Soča Valley Development Centre

In 1999 the municipalities of Bovec, Kobarid and Tolmin established the Soča Valley Development Centre (Posoški razvojni center). The main task of the Centre is to facilitate development in the Upper Posočje region, most notably in the areas of business, human resources, environmental and spatial planning and rural development. The Soča Valley Development Centre implements local and regional development projects in North Primorska (the Goriška Statistical region) and takes part in national and international development projects (as project partner or as lead partner).

In 2000 the Soča Valley Development Centre, together with three other development agencies, established the Regional Development Agency of North Primorska which covers an area of 13 municipalities within North Primorska (the Goriška statistical region).

Soča Valley Development Centre is divided into four organisational units:

• Office of the Director,
• Department for Environment, Spatial planning and Rural development,
• Department for Human Resources,
• Department for Business and Regional development.

The Soča Valley Development Centre aims to bring new ideas, knowledge and opportunities to the Upper Posočje region as well as to the broader region. Alongside its partners the Soča Valley Development Centre helps creating an environment, which is not only a pleasure to live in, but which promotes work and innovation as well.

Our aim is to become a leading regional development institution, which is also active in the field of lifelong learning and is capable of forming and implementing grand-scale local and regional projects in the field of business, human resources, rural development and environment and spatial planning.
We strive to become an institution known for its project management skills, its efficient drawing of European and national funds and, building on this basis, partner coordination and implementation of projects for the benefit of the entire region.
